WHAT INGREDIENTS ARE IN YOUR PRODUCTS?

All of our candles and wax melts are made with 100% all-natural soy wax sourced from farmers in the U.S. and are free from additives and dyes. We strive to source the cleanest, highest quality fragrances. ALL of the fragrance oils we use are free from parabens, phthalates, carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins, organ toxins and acute toxins. Our wicks are lead-free and made of cotton. All of our products are eco-friendly and safe to burn around family and pets.

 

WHAT IS SOY WAX AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS WAX?

Soy wax is a type of vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. Once the beans are harvested, they are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and is hydrogenated. Most of the world's soybeans are grown right here in the U.S., primarily in Iowa, Illinois and Indiana.

The best benefit of soy is that it's renewable. In addition, a high-quality soy candle burns clean and slowly.

Many candles that you find on store shelves today are made with harmful chemicals and paraffin wax. As you may know, paraffin wax is petroleum based and it is created from crude oil, making it highly unsustainable. Collecting crude oil can be devastating to the environment and cause pollution of our water and air. There are also arguments regarding paraffin wax emitting toxic chemicals into the air when burned, which although may be so minimal that they do not pose a health risk, we didn't want anything potentially toxic being put into our products.

Creating eco-friendly clean products that are safe to use around family and pets is very important to us. This is why we chose to make our candles out of soy wax. It is non-toxic, vegan, eco-friendly, sustainable and burns clean. Be sure to carefully read candle labels. Often times companies will say their wax is a soy blend which often contains certain amounts of paraffin. 

 

WHY DOES MY CANDLE HAVE A ROUGH, BUMPY, UNEVEN SURFACE AFTER COOLING?

This is completely normal and common with all-natural soy wax. It happens when the rate of cooling is inconsistent. Although it may not always look pretty, it does not affect the performance of your candle and is a way to tell whether a candle is actually made with soy wax.

 

HOW LONG DO YOUR CANDLES LAST?

With proper care (see Candle Care for more information), our 8 oz mason jar candles will burn approximately 40+ hours and our 4 oz mason jar candles will burn approximately 20+ hours.

 

WHY IS THERE A LOT OF WAX LEFT OVER IN THE BOTTOM OF MY JAR?

For safety reasons, the wicks are designed so the flame is extinguished sooner when nearing the bottom of the jar. This helps reduce containers from getting too hot and breaking. Approximately 1/4" to 1/2" of wax should remain leftover in the jar. 

In addition, if you do not properly burn your candle, it could cause tunneling leaving a significant amount of wax along the sides of the jar. Refer to our Candle Care page for information on properly burning a candle.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?

We currently do not accept returns or exchanges but if you have an issue, please reach out to us so we can make it right! We can be reached by email (oldpostcandlecompany@gmail.com) or through Instagram. 

 

DO YOU SHIP YOUR PRODUCTS?

Yes, we offer flat rate shipping of $9.95 or $8.95 to the lower 48 states depending on the size and weight of your order.  Additional charges will apply if you are located in Alaska or Hawaii. If you are local to Long Island, you can shop with us at the local markets. Sign-up for our newsletter for updates and follow us on Instagram to see what markets we will be at.

 

DO YOU OFFER LOCAL DELIVERY?

Yes, if you are within 6 miles of Port Jefferson, NY we offer local delivery for a fee of $5 per order. This option will be available to local customers only at check-out. Deliveries are made once a week, typically on the weekends so please keep this in mind when placing an order. Please also allow time for us to process your order. Although orders are usually processed within 1 - 3 business days, please allow up to 5 days especially during the holiday season. Please note if you are spending over $100, the local delivery fee will be waived.
